We eagerly anticipate the day when we can re-assemble our community on the curling ice. As is the case with many other communal activities in these extraordinary times, curling will be impacted by the public health and safety guidelines developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because of the current closure of Hillcrest Community Centre, the status of PRCL’s 2020-21 curling season remains unknown. Ultimately, the decision to re-open the facility is at the discretion of the Vancouver Parks Board. In the meantime, the staff and directors of the Vancouver Curling Club are drafting a COVID-19 Safety Plan and are seeking input from members to help them develop a responsible operating plan for the 2020-21 season.
To assist with this planning, we request your feedback via two online forms. The first is a Curling Pulse Check to help us better understand our members’ priorities for curling during a pandemic.
The second is an Expression of Interest. Consider this a pre-registration form for those who are wanting to enter a team into the league when it is deemed safe to open the curling facility. We are not collecting registration payments at this time, but we do appreciate your feedback.
Before we can hurry hard, we must be calm, be kind and be safe.
