For curlers joining the PRCL as a beginner: basic instruction session is offered before the season starts, and organizers support beginner teams through their first few games. We do recommend getting extra ice time to help along your skills by participating in the programs listed above.
We’re excited about your interest! Whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned curler, everyone is welcome.
We do our best to match players based on skill to new or existing teams; each season several new curlers join the league.

Season & Play
Draws for the 2026/27 season run Sundays at 12:00 PM and 2:15 PM, and Mondays at 6:45 PM or 9:00 PM. You’ll play one of these slots each week, with at least one bye per round.
You can expect to play around 21 games over the season. Each team should expect 7–8 Monday evening games, with 3–4 falling at the 9:00 PM slot — organizers aim to balance this evenly across all divisions.
More scheduling details will be posted as the season approaches.
Proper footwear:
Clean athletic shoes or curling shoes, boots aren’t permitted, so please wear only clean shoes on the ice. Club grippers are intended for rentals and novice curlers; we recommend visiting the Vancouver Curling Club Pro Shop to purchase your own grippers or curling shoes.
Curling broom:
A broom is a great investment and strongly recommended. Club brooms are available to rent at the VCC for beginner curlers with a minimum $20 donation for the season (donation box located in the club).
Appropriate clothing:
You’ll be sweeping hard out there! Breathable layers help keep you warm without overheating, and stretchy athletic pants will help you slide your best – leave the jeans at home. To help keep the ice clean, please avoid clothing that sheds.
Teams are ranked using a combination of a scoring system and human review, designed to reflect both individual skill levels and past team performance.
How it works:
- Players rank their own skill level and years of curling experience during registration.
- Prior season team finishing position contributes to the score.
- These factors are weighted to generate an overall team score. Teams are then ranked accordingly, with the top 9 placed in Division A, the next 9 in Division B, and so on.
Once score-based rankings are complete, the competition committee reviews the results and makes adjustments as needed.
The 2026/27 season draw will be available at least 2 weeks before the season starts. We aim to finalize it as early as possible.
This year the draw (schedule) is available through leaguebuddy.ca. You’ll receive an email with instructions on setting up your account before the season begins.
